Adults are outnumbered: we have 5 kids and 4 adults, which presents certain challenges with boat and time management. Since we left Halifax, we anchored at Sambro village, where the anchorage was just wide enough for us to feel safe. We walked on a lonely uninhabited island and caught our first Atlantic cod!
Then we spent a night anchored at Rogues Roost, a tiny uninhabited cove which used to be frequented by smugglers. Margot spotted juvenile bald eagles, we saw herons, and got to walk on a beach on another small island.
Yesterday we had light winds, and therefore we could come up very close to a remote Pearl island at high tide and watch puffins very close up. When we came here with AJ, Mark, and Viktor the tide was low and it was rather bumpy, so we saw the birds from afar. With my parents and kids it was very rough, so we didn't see much at all, but yesterday was glorious! On out way to Chester the winds were totally light, and the sun was high and hot, so we plunged into 17-18C water. Very refreshing, and totally worth it!
We plan to be in the town of Mahone Bay tonight and Lunenburg on Monday.

Us landlubbers here are muddling through an uneventful July. Taking the family to Halifax via sailboat seems much preferable to endless visits to the splashpad.
