We pulled into Rockland, Maine to pick up Alice before we start heading towards Boston. With the sun and a fresh breeze entering the harbor was a pleasure. Looking at the charts I knew that the harbor is huge, but I didn't anticipate beautiful scenery as we were sailing in. I don't think phone pictures can do it justice, though.
Last night we were on the northeast side of Vinalhaven island, where we were hoping to find eagles and seals. We saw an osprey, guillemots, and ducks, but no eagles or seals. On the bright side, we picked a fresh batch of muscles and ate a few raspberries that grow on one of the nearby islands. And moonset was wonderful!
This morning Anton and Katya had their first Maine catch: 7 lovely mackerels! The nice thing about fresh fish is excellent sashimi!
